Guess the Attendance: Alsace/Loire Valley in-store tasting edition

We probably had one of the more interesting line-ups for a Saturday tasting that we've had in the store for a long while. We were pouring '07 Huet Le Haut Lieu Sec, '07 Gerard Boulay Sancerre Clos de Beaujeu and even an '89 Vouvray demi-sec.

Care to play the good old stadium scoreboard game of 'guess the attendance?'

It may be helpful to know that we average about 30 people for Saturday in-store tastings.

Was the attendance:

A.) 7
B.) 15
C.) 25
D.) 32

I almost attended (I had stopped in and bought a bottle of Bordeaux right before noon) but my little city hike turned out to mean running for the door at 5:59 to pick up the bottle I had left hours before.

God i need to pay more attention.

Clearly I should subscribe to the K&L email newsletter rather than the old fashioned print edition (good bathroom reading)...

Hmm, I'll go with 7. Looks like it might've been ten judging from these comments.

OK, a few guesses are in...

Brian - oops. I wonder how many folks they had at the tasting in the SF store

Corey - can't catch all of 'em. But yes, try to check out our events on the webpage, and you can always email me if you want to know which exact wines we're pouring.

Wolfgang - same goes for you, let me know if you're ever curious as to what we're pouring.

So, was it 7? And if so, does that say anything about these wines...or K&L newsletter readers? (No offense.) I'd bet it's SRO at events featuring the kinds of wines Eric Asimov editorialized against in today's paper (big and syrupy).

If anyone guessed 'B,' 15 people, then you are correct!

Steve - it says something about the wines (niche wines that really require extra love and attention to properly explain and sell to customers) as well as the newsletter base, generally an older group than those who just check out the website and emails. Also, our customer base in Redwood City is decidedly more, er, geriatric than in the city, so I'm curious how many tastings they did in SF for the same event.

If I send my mom into RC will you only sell her good stuff?

Steve - Absolutely, only good wine for your mom! What does she drink?
