BLACK UHURU LIVE DOUBLE PLAY- Pt. I Youths of Eglington
FYA!!! One of my all-time favorite songs from one of my favorite albums, Red. Sly and Robbie are quite simply one of the tightest, funkiest, most bad-ass riddim sections of all times. Oh, and the other musicians here are no slouches, either.
Thanks for the video, Joe. I saw these guys, complete with Dunbar & Shakespeare, in DC back in what had to be 1982 or '83 at the latest. The details are fuzzy (went to way too many shows back then to remember everything) but I remember them putting on a great set.
Lucky you. I have talked to other folks who saw Black Uhuru around that time and said that their live show was peerless. I have also heard that the Junior Reid fronted Black Uhuru circa '86 was also the real deal.
